Blogging fatigue

Over the past few days I have started writing various blog posts on various subjects then half way through I have given up.

Seems like I have a case of blog fatigue.

Hopefully I can shake it off but in the meantime I hope my blogroll will keep you amused/enraged.

I really, really can't be fucked anymore. This caper just seems like banging my head against a wall and my head hurts...

It's just typical overdose, hangover time. Dizzy thinks Brown might declare next week. That should be like a hefty shot of single malt! Another solution is find a trustworthy mate to do the blog for a week and have a holiday. Can be very useful.

I bail out of a blog about half way through, usually.

It IS like headbangin', Rab. It IS.

But every noo and agin it straighten's yer heed, an' a glimmer o' truth ekes oot.

Please keep Rantin'.

A brisk walk through the woods is fantastic for blowing the cobwebs at this time of the year, Rab.

The mistake I made with my blog was that as its popularity increased, I felt under increasing pressure to write more and more to satisfy my eager readers! But unless you are a professional blogger, you should not feel beholden to anyone. You don’t have to write x blogs per day/week. Just write whenever the mood takes you. Your loyal readers will still be here -apart from those who have defected to Dark Lochnagar!

Take OR's advice Rab. I was lucky and had help too. OR's been a wonderful help to me.

It happens to us all Rab. My desktop is littered with half finished posts that would be too dated now to complete.

My advice, don't fight it just take a break and come back when you feel sufficiently motivated... but make sure you come back!

Rab,

Just retire the blog for a while, and post comments on other peoples websites when you can be bothered to do so.

After all, we do know what a certain visually impaired gentleman MUST DO within the next few weeks, for all that he's rather swallow razor blades as a preferred option.

I'm giving up the blogging for a week or so while I redesign the site. Look out for the re-launch of RantinRab!

Thanks folks.

Post and be damned. Does this mean that Rab will now be wearing a collar and tie?

It's hardly surprising, Rab, what with the events of the last few months.

A break will do you good, mate, and I'm looking forward to having you back in form for slagging off the mono-eyed pant pisser!

^^^^^ Wot Don't call me Dave said, spot on. I'm the same, except without the popularity bit.

I sometimes think, 'oooh, I've not posted for three days'. Then I realise I do it for my own enjoyment, not the entertainment of others. If others like it, then that's a bonus.

If you can't think of anything to say, then don't waste your time saying nothing. It's not like turning on a tap.

It is not the best of times, it is certainly the worst of times. A few drinks should help.

When I get like this, which happens to the best of us at times, I tend to revert to my philosophy of 'the more you write, the more you write'.

Apply this to blogging, by simply junking down a bunch of thoughts like a stream of consciousness. Just let it flow.

Then after, tidy it, edit it, throw in a few links and your confidence will rise and you'll be back in action.

Good luck.

Have a short break, & come back refreshed.

Your audience deserves you.

Didn't you just have a short break, lasting a few months?

I like the real life stories about housing benefit pushing up rents and the police cautioning your employees for benefit fraud best, if you're interested.

Iain Dale mentioned having the same feelings recently. OK, so he gets paid fuckloads of money for it, but ...

Keep it up, Rab, you surely don't want to miss the fun during GE time?

Nice little bit of support from J Demetriou, Rab. Would that be the same J Demetriou who wrote the following on Old Holborn's blog comments:

Rab:

"I suppose that makes me a wanker in some peoples mind."

Yeah, it does.

Not saying the guy is a hypocritical cunt, but there's a smell of fish coming from somewhere.

Rab. Don't feel under any pressure to blog just for the sake of it. Like all of us you start this off for a laugh and before you know where you are, you're blogging 5 hours a day. Your posts for the last 6 months have been shite anyway, so take a rest and in 2 months everyone will say, Rab who? :-)

Not another one, has there been something put in the watter. I see that Scottish Tory Boy seems to have vanished too, is it malaise of a fucking purge?

Just blog when you get the urge, don't when you don't. Don't worry about how often you blog, and never look at your stats.

Most people here - and loads of others - are 'following' you somehow, so as soon as you blog, we'll see it. Nobody will go away if you have a few days/weeks off.

Oh you bitchy cunt Rab! You want to deprive us of your acerbic wit do you! Well no, I'm not having it. So I've nominated you for the best Scottish blog on the net...but you are not alone, I've nominated Subrosa too.

Dont you fucking dare, don't you fucking dare leave us.

What political blogging does do is make you think, to a point of wishing you simply sucked up the news as written, like the drones on their sofas do. It can be mentally (and to an extent emotionally) very draining. When I get tired, I just go over and read Leg Iron's stuff or go off on one about Microsoft.

Hope to see you back sometime soon when you're well rested. You'll know when it's time when you start getting a comedic twitch.
