The end of the world is nigh.

Forget your poncey global warming, famine, war, tsunami, hurricane and asteriod collisions. In fact, lump them all together and it still wouldn't touch this.

If the methane bubble—a bubble that could be as big as 20 miles wide—erupts with titanic force from the seabed into the Gulf, every ship, drilling rig and structure within the region of the bubble will immediately sink. All the workers, engineers, Coast Guard personnel and marine biologists participating in the salvage operation will die instantly.

Better cash in your investments and enjoy them while you can!

So, the massive accumulations of methane under the North Sea were successfully exploited to provide the UK with its Natural Gas, yet if they're under the Gulf of Mexico they're a threat to mankind? Yeah!

That's not the end of the world. That's a bit of a disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. You had my hopes up for a minute.

Perhaps we should expand on the meaning of 'theory' and it's close cousin 'wild speculation'.
If the author wants to see unpleasantness, perhaps '180km wide', 'asteroid', and 'Chicxulub' would do it?

Methane burps?? I fart in your general direction!

The impotence of man in the face of God is a source of profound regret for the likes of The Bilderberger classes. Were nature to decide its had enough so it will be the end of life as we know it.Just imagine, no more chatterati!

Worth a small each way bet. What many people do not realise is that it might take only a middling geophysical nasty to produce some very serious knock on economic effects.
