More Nanny State Meddling

Bill set to expose gender pay gap

Harriet Harman
Ms Harman says the recession is no excuse to leave inequalities unchecked

Many employers are to be made to reveal how much male staff are paid compared with their female colleagues, under legislation to be published later.

The Equality Bill aims to tackle discrimination against a range of groups including women, the elderly, and those from lower social classes.

It will also make it a legal duty of public bodies in England and Wales to address social inequalities.

The Conservatives have described the plans as "class war attacks"

Fuck me, here we go again. The piece that really sticks out is -

It will also make it a legal duty of public bodies in England and Wales to address social inequalities.

Cue more interference from local authority busybody fuckwits to stick their nose where it's not wanted. Paid for by you and I, the council tax payers.

Full story here.

They just can't help themselves, can they?

It's easy to avoid problems with this.

Just don't employ any women.

It won't take most employers long to catch on to that. Especially in trades like building, where the only woman employed answers the phone. That will make the average male/female wages skewed. Solution? employ a bloke to answer the phone instead.

Sorted.

Personally, I won't employ anyone at all. I just subcontract if it all gets too much.

The funny thing is, the lab I subcontract to is almost entirely female-staffed. Only one bloke and most of the women are senior to him. So their average male/female wages will be on the high side for the women.

I wonder what Hideous Harman will make of that?
