Blogging = Child Porn?

Hard at work, salary paid for by you and I

London Assembly member Brian Coleman has announced that blogging is a 'growing cancer in political life'. (turn to page two of the e newspaper for full story).

He also compares political blogging to online child pornography,

"Just as we are regulating the net over child porn issues, I am afraid I have come to the conclusion that we need to regulate for the protection of public figures and private individuals who are targeted."

Note how he lumps 'public figures' and 'private individuals' together.

Mr Coleman has previous form with bloggers. He even has a blog dedicated to him by an appreciative member of the public. He was nearly suspended last month for launching an attack on a blogger. And there is also this. So, nothing personal then...

So, one of 'them' doesn't like criticism and true to form, wants to legislate against any 'thought crimes'.

We aren't popular with them are we.

We must be doing something right then.

The All Seeing Eye has a story about a blogger in Croatia who was locked up for his blogging.

Would one expect anything less from the scumbags? (i.e. politicians)

I've just read his wiki entry and he seems to be a jumped-up authoritarian, bullshitting son-of-a-fucking-pox-ridden-bitch. He is a joke elected by a collection of jerkoffs whose maximum level of political awareness relates to the number of roadhumps in their street.

His opinion is irrelevant.

Ahh, they can drive us mad with their useless actions, but we can drive them mad right back with words.

Eye for an eye. It's also freedom of speech, something politicians have forgotten about. The more smears against bloggers, the more accurate the perceptions of the truth about those in power. Honest views are never welcomed by those who toe the party line.

I just flicked through all of the links, initially expecting him to New Labour but he's fucking Blue Labour.

What a complete twat Brian Coleman is.

I automatically thought he was Labour, too, just goes to show what we have to look forward to under the Tories, then, Rab!

He'll get mail from me, the twat.

Eventually the blogosphere will be regulated out of existence. The function of the internet is commercial and political. These two are old friend's and will find a way to shut you up while selling you Siol Nan Gaidheal simmits.

Oh aye!

Most ( English ) local authorities are now tory controlled so they are responsible for many of the daily shock beurocracy horror stories that we read.

You might find this recent article about Coleman interesting. It shows him ‘celebrating’ with champagne following his Standards Board conviction.

I am less focussed on "the public and private individuals who are targeted " bit, as the people we bang on about are politicians, who surrendered their privacy upon seeking or gaining public office, or leverage thereon (Dolly etc ) than the bit about conjoining online child pornography and blogging which we need to regulate.

That is a nasty psyops smear and has no legitimacy.

The idiot might as well compare online child pornography with politicans' vacuous and lying promises to the voters. Now that I would like to outlaw and prosecute

Oh dear is there an Operation Ore for bloggers in the works?
Guys an idiot, but the problem is that idiots like this are all through the political power structure of the UK. The problem isn't the bloggers, it's authoritarian fucknuts like Brian Coleman.

I have to agree with the assertion.

At the present time an important principle is being tested in our Courts and bloggers twitch with demands for the continuance of libel without redress - whilst knowing it cannot be right.

I have studied large files on the libel mongers GADGET and PC ELLIE BLOGS who cowardly abuse others behind their yellow screens of anonymity.

The public can have no respect for such cowardly police or seniors who knowingly permitted long term abuses. I certainly hope the identities of this pair will be established and published before the end of the year. Let them reap the wind of the waiting writs.

@Dr Melvin T Gray: Are you by chance easily offended on the behalf of others?

Hang fire, what's libelous about calling people who want to shut you up assholes? What's libellous about Gadget or Ellie Bloggs (both published authors too, jealous much?) giving their opinions on what they see is killing their vocations as police officers and doing an inordinate amount of harm on the streets of Britain?

I bet you cheered when Night Jack was unmasked too.

I am in an exchamge of e-mails with the fuckwit, Rab. I'll keep you posted.

Did you get a reply DL?

All I got was a standard auto reply.

What I'd like to put to the ever-so-slightly authoritarian cunt is "targeted for what?". Doing their jobs properly? Representing their constituents? Providing a good service? Sleeping at work (as do we all)? Despite the Righteous's best efforts, one or two of us still have full time jobs that eat up 13 or 14 hours of our day, thus preventing us from doing too much of said targeting.

I sent the cunt an email. Not that he'll read it. It's probably got a spam filter on it to eliminate anyone outside his very small circle of useful idiots and oriental paid-by-the-hour felation coordinators.

Apart from not sleeping on the job, the fat cunt needs to lose a stone or three - look at all the double chins - put there by OUR tax money. Someone else not to vote for?
