A mother who was punched to the floor in her own home by yobs was stunned when police advised her not to call officers to her house - because it would 'escalate' the problem.
Jesus H! What is this country coming to? It won't escalate if the toerags get put in a locked cell with a large predatory player of the pink oboe will it? They'd think twice about being such obnoxious little shits again.
My son in law's a cop and would have no problem enforcing the law to protect civilians. But this is Canada not the YuK. From discussion with him the standing orders seem to be to never walk away from a challenge to the rule of law - always meet such challenges with greater force.
In the 1900s anyone that wanted a gun could have one - no questions asked. Every time labour has been in power they have succeeded in removing that right from the law abiding people and given it to their militia - the police!
Until that right is returned to the people and the police, as they are today, disbanded there will remain an underling resentment of the law.
There is also a need for the repeal of EVERY law put on the books for the last 13 years.
Its not so much that they're scared, it's more like there's no money in it for them.
I look at how much time and effort is put into enforcing fixed penalty notices these days and I get the impression that all Police Officers time and effort is put into generating revenue for the exchequer.
I think murder is the only non-revenue crime where a lot of effort is still expended.
Look at the effort put into serious crime and drugs enforcement (another area where due to changes in the law money can be seized by the government), as opposed to burglary.
I just wonder if the big fraud cases that have failed in the past have been pushed forward because of the chance of snatching big money....

Words fail me too.. what on earth is going on?
Whatever happened to suing the Police if you became a victim of crime ? Time was when it was fairly common.
They don't mind beating up demonstrators though. They're all tough then.

Seems to work.
It's true, Rab, things are now so bad that we need protection from the yobs AND the cops!

We have milk-livered police who threaten when safe; big on boasting and cowardice.

Uncle Bob says "Jesus H! What is this country coming to/"
Don't you mean what is England coming to?
Police numbers are being cut south of the border. That obviously has consequences.
Police numbers are increasing in Scotland.
Indy,
Yeah, the SNP are fucking fantastic, aren't they.
Yawn.
I think the point is Rab that there are more police in Scotland because more police is a priority for the public - and hence for politicians.
People get what they vote for.
Didn't the police also advise her to 'sort it out herself'?
People are going to start doing just that soon, and then the police will be complaining that nobody calls them any more.
