Well done Maggie Thatcher!

Thatcher personally confronted Gorbachev and protested that the Soviet Union was meddling in British matters

Now if it was a leftie politician standing up to the USA today....Oh wait, the poor Guardian must live in hope of the left finding their own Thatcher who sticks two fingers up to our neighbours across the Atlantic. What a shame the SNP won't get the joke.

So does anyone blame Maggie then?

Well.....Other than the BBC that is....

There's no blame from me. But then, I was actually living then, as opposed to these Socialist bastards who were told by their 'Daddy'!

Strangely, this is the week Scargill has had his voting rights withdrawn from his union membership.

Remember Scargill? The man who promised thousands everything and they were left with nothing?

I believe Scargill still has his big house, car, pension etc.

Rab

All in secret behind closed doors slimy Tory scum at least 'OUR' Arthur was honest and then did not try to use the official secrets act to hide like a rat in the dark.

And now we find out(thanks to Labour law) that the Torys were blackmailing the russians so they could starve the miners back to work.

and you with all your Gobshite about getting the state of peoples back praise Maggie.......

well that is until the same tactics are used on you

mind in order to fight for something you believe in you first have to be a 'MAN' A attribute you singularly fail to meet.

A 'MAN' SAID

To appreciate fully the inhumanity of this situation, you have to see the hurt and despair in the eyes of a man suddenly told he is redundant without provision made for suitable alternative employment, with the prospect in the west of Scotland, if he is in his late forties or fifties, of spending the rest of his life in the Labour Exchange. Someone, somewhere has decided he is unwanted, unneeded, and is to be thrown on the industrial scrap heap. From the very depth of my being, I challenge the right of any man or any group of men, in business or in government, to tell a fellow human being that he or she is expendable

-Jimmy Reid

MEN fought under Arthur to keep men like that in work to keep their families and communities together

what did you ever do???

Right on cue he did!

Niko, I was sitting in geography in Ardrossan Academy watching the coal lorry convoy rumble past every day.

The miners were used by the NUM leadership as political pawns, that's my opinion.

It's due to men like Scargill and his peers that men of my age are working in shops and call centres, rather than car factories and mines.

So don't sit there and lecture me, you cunt. I am living the result of trade union 'progress'.

And Jimmy Reid, although a clever man, was a deluded cunt also.

I remember Maggie welcoming her soul mate Mugabe to the UK for a chat. That's when she gave him Rhodesia. Great job Maggie.

@ McGonagall

"I remember Maggie welcoming her soul mate Mugabe to the UK for a chat".

Go and ask K.G. at Crusader Rabbit for the low down on that particular incident, as he was at the centre of things at the time. It's a well known story, of how Ian Smith bottled out, not Maggie Thatcher...

I knew an elderly lady who used to work in the fashion trade. She despised Scargill, not for his ideology or his lies but for his HAND STITCHED SUITS.
